Investing in the future

Hey everyone, happy 2012! This is just a quick little post. Life has been very busy and this is just something I’ve been thinking about lately.

Anyone who knows me probably knows that I’m always thinking about the next direction for my career. While the first three months of 2011 were the slowest three months I’ve had in years, the last nine months made up for them. I’m hoping to carry that momentum into this year, and I’ve decided to invest in my career in some big ways.

I finally stepped up and replaced my 4-year-old laptop which has served me well considering I’ve dragged it on every tour I’ve been on since I went freelance. The old MacBook was so slow that it was starting to affect my productivity. I’m happy to report that this is the first blog post that I am typing on my new MacBook Air, and I’m really loving this machine, so far.

I’ve also decided to step up my game and make some moves to allow me to work outside of Canada a little more easily. While I can’t divulge too much information about this just yet, as it is far from finalized, it really is an exciting moment in my career. I’ve made my living in Canada for the last 4 years, and while I do love working here, I honestly do feel that if I am to continue to grow, I need to spread my wings a bit. Some exciting times are ahead and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

What’s Coming Next:

Arkells tour Ontario and Eastern Canada: January / February!
2011 Year in Review post, including my Top 5 shows of 2011.
